Our Story.

In 2015, Antonio was approached to start a program on Nellis AFB, but being only a purple belt, he felt unprepared for such a significant commitment. He believed he needed to accomplish more and pursue additional aspirations before stepping into a teaching role, something he had never envisioned for himself before.

A year later, the same offer came his way again. Taking it as a sign, he finally agreed.

On November 3, 2016, we held our first official class.

The program ended up exceeding our wildest expectations, prompting inquiries from non-military individuals interested in joining.

By 2018, the off-base demand had surged, leading us to seek a second location.

We searched extensively, turning down over 30 locations. With a second child on the way and our future home under construction, we were exhausted and nearly ready to reconsider everything.

With one final site to inspect, we decided it was make or break.

The unfinished 1500 square foot space left us hesitant. However, our real estate agent suggested a quick look at the neighboring 3200 square foot facility, a former metro PD's combative training site.

Despite initial doubts about affording double the space, rent, and utilities, we went in. As we explored the last room, we noticed striking gear and pads. But one pad, in particular, caught our eye.

Flipped over, it had "Academy" written on it, which coincidentally, was our selected name.

Feeling an inexplicable connection, we knew it was a sign from God that we had found our home.
